Ergon GP1-S Biokork grips on a Brompton

Around March 2012 I replaced the DREADFUL FOAM GRIPS that came with the Brompton. They may suit some people but I really didn’t like them. I blogged about it at the time and then at some point deleted the post by accident – since they’ve worked so well I thought I’d revisit it.

I bought Ergon GP1-S Biokork grips and spent an afternoon fitting them. Most of the time was spent removing the old ones and the traces of glue. I split them with a sharp knife and ended up using a mix of isopropyl alcohol and soapy water. It took hours. Then rinsed them and let them dry.

So, some three years later…

I still like them. They’ve lasted well – look as good as new and they’re a huge improvement on the foam ones. If/when I ever get a Brompton with more gears – I’ll ask them to fit them.
