Got a Focusrite VRM box and a Mac? Better not upgrade to Mavericks just yet…

I’ve had a VRM box now for some time – it’s excellent. In fact I’ve come to rely on it, so I thought I’d check whether it worked with OSX Mavericks (yup – been a Mac user for 7 or so years too – currently on Mountain Lion).

Glad I checked. At the moment, according to Focusrite tech support, it isn’t compatible, but they’re working on it. They recommend subscribing to their beta site for email alerts for new releases http://beta.focusrite.com

  1. I am considering getting the Focusrite VRM box for use with Mountain Lion OSX 10.8.5. Focusrite website says the software control panel doesn’t work with Mountain Lion. However in their beta listings Focusrite offer a fix for Mountain Lion – 1.3b2, which they claim fixes sluggish gui with retina screens but doesn’t mention the issue of software control panel.
As your post suggests that you have been using the VRM for some time and that you are on Mountain Lion, can you confirm that the VRM is working satisfactorily – did you update the VRM with the beta fix? Would be pleased to hear from an actual user.
    Many thanks… Steve

    1. Hello Pete – thanks for responding. I had asked a supplier for confirmation that the unit will work with my system but all they could do was refer me to Focusrite’s web site which is still saying that the VRM doesn’t work fully with Mountain Lion. Thanks to your help, I think that it’s safe to order the VRM now with some confidence that I’ll be able to use it. Compliments of the season to you. Steve
