A poem about the Brompton

The Brompton at Richmond Park

I am pleased to report that I can make it to Richmond Park and back on the new bike – the 2 speed Brompton. I did wonder if I’d make it up Wimbledon hill, and to be honest anything steeper or longer and I’d probably walk up. Or fold the bike and get the bus.

One problematic thing I noticed is the gear changer and bell – allegedly. It’s a single unit to save weight but I can’t work out how to make it ring. While zooming through Roehampton pondering this, I recalled a song by Broadcast and wrote the following poem in that style.

Oh little bell
upon the bike
I’ve grown to love
I really like

You never ring
you cannot sing
you have no thing
to make you ding

Pedestrians I cannot help
But run them down and hear them yelp

The monthly service nearly due
I’ll go to Bikefix and take you.

Ok, I need to get out more.
